Soil and Groundwater Remediation
Our scientists at BioNorth Solutions have discovered and developed a proprietary blend of microbes capable of remediating contaminated soils and wetlands. With multiple strains of naturally-occuring bacteria found in soils, Microbiate™ remediation products are designed for maximum efficacy.

How does it work?
- By way of example, gasoline, diesel fuel, lubricants, and crude oil contain hydrocarbons, which are chemical chains of carbon and hydrogen.
- When our proprietary blend of microbes are introduced to hydrocarbon-contaminated soil , the microbes will “consume” the hydrocarbon chains, molecularly breaking apart the carbon and hydrogen.
- The chemical reaction caused by the microbes degrading the hydrocarbons, with the help of oxygen, creates water and trace amounts of carbon dioxide.
- These by-products are returned to the environment, and the soil is now clean and usable once more.
The Microbiate™ Biosurfactant Effect
Our proprietary microbial blends include bacterial species that naturally produce biosurfactants, such as rhamnolipids and surfactins. By reducing surface tension of contaminants, solubilization, dispersion, and degradation of the contamination is improved. This naturally occurring effect removes 1.5 to 4 times more contamination, in comparison to synthetic surfactants.
